He just wake up right now , the strong smell of the poop and he eating it!! , right now is 3:47am here in Miami , but I'm really worried about 2 things .

one he's poop is really soft like diarrhea ,the smell is really bad , i had to open my bedroom windows and nothing is still really strong.

and two when i wake up he had eaten half of the poop!!!! tomorrow i have his first vet's appointment! but I'm really worried about him , this is my first basset puppy so i don't know if this is normal!

yes unfortunetely this is normal, albeit still gross but normal.

How big is your pups crate? it should only be big enough to turn around and lay down. Have your vet run a fecal sample to check for worms, that is a poop eating cause. Also what is your puppy eating if they aren't getting enough nutrients from their food they may be eating their poop because theyare still requiring nutrients and are trying to get it from their poop.

Our fred ate her poop when we got her we started giving her 2 chunks of pineapple in her food and within a week she stopped (I think it was like 2 days). Also maybe try giving your pup a spoonful of canned pumpkin (pure pumpkin not pumpkin pie filling it'll say 100% pure pumpkin on the can). That can help with the diarrhea and I heard it helps with poop eating too.

My one-year-old Basset did this recently. He got on my son's bed, did his thing, and then ate it..gross!! I think at was an isolated incident (I hope).
