I didn't think Rosebud was out of the ordinary, but I'm dogsitting a friend's hound/shepherd mix for a week and the difference is incredible! They weigh about the same (55lb), but Sophie is much taller, being some sort of mix.
Rosebud needs to go out first thing in the morning, a couple times in the evening and always once, sometimes twice, during the night. When school's in, she's left at home all day and is fine.
Sophie lasts the whole night and only needs out once or twice during the day.
Is Rosebud normal for a Basset or is this excessive? She's always been like this, so it's not like there has been some sudden change that could be a kidney infection or something. I just have never had another dog at home to compare her to!

Dogs just like humans are different. All my dogs pee and poop differently.

Consumption of water is also in the equation mix.

That's a good point about humans.
And Rosebud definitely drinks more than Sophie.
