My baby Cleo is 9 weeks old. We bought her when she was 6 weeks old. Vet could not get her in til today for second round of vaccinations. Doc looked her over and said she is very healthy. Showed us how to clean her ears. But she has an ear infection (Doc said yeast). Is this common in Basset puppies? We have antibiotic drops to put in for the next 10 days.

I want my baby to be healthy. Would appreciate any input.

Ear infections are common in dogs with that ears hang.....so yes common in Basset Hounds. Since the ears hang, it can cause moisture and microorganisms in the ear canal. Cleaning your dog’s ears after a bath or grooming may prevent any potential infections.

Allergies, either environmental, such as pollens (grasses, trees and weeds), dust mites, and dog food can also be a cause of an ear infection.
