We got a basset after my partner pleading & pleading - he wanted one so badly & the moment I wavere he just went straight out and bought one that day. I am not an animal hater in the slightest - I've been a veggie for about 25 years since I was a kid. the only reason I didn't want one was because we were so busy with working and the kids (the normal day to day) I didn't feel ready yet. Anyway he promised he would do everything & that he did to extreme but i feel to the detriment of any power we (me and the kids) hold over the dog. he rushed out on his own he got the pup from a really dodgy woman. It turned out he had parvo virus which is a long sad story but we got over it and he is fully recovered now. We've now come to the decision to get another one (on my suggestion) as I feel he needs the companionship. Are we doing the right thing? I do love him but when my partner leaves him for any amount of time in the house he becomes like a devil toddler and chews everything up jumps on the sofa wrecks everything, my partner says I should be tough and I am but that seems to make him worse especially now he is getting older. my boyfriend is away at the moment and he has destroyed everything that normally he doesn't take notice of . when I tried to get my son's football from him to leave and drop it which he would normally do his eyes turned evil looking and he tried to bite me and ripped my sleeve.. how can i control himwhen my partner is away. my partner spoils him and takes him to work everyday and every time he goes out he takes him with him. I know our basset loves me and the kids but how can i regain some control. he would never act like that if my partner was in the house. Thank you for any suggestions - much anticipated
