Help. I have recently lost my beloved MayBelle, at the age of 12. She to me was perfect, well she was addicted to balls...I couldn't even take a bath without having to toss that darn thing into the hall way...but I would gladly throw it again....sorry I will get onto what I needed to know.
I would love to contact the breeder that I got MayBelle from, but as I said it was 12 years ago, and I have lost all contact info I had. I don't know if she still breeds dogs, or not, but I would love to contact her and see. If she does, I will not hesitate in getting a new pup from her. I have MayBelle's pedigree, and was wondering if I could type in her registration number somewhere, and find the address of the breeder. Any info you could give me, would be greatly appreciated.

Contact the Kennel Club you have the papers from they may be able to help.

Also the papers should list breeders name, try googling name and bassets to see if you can find her contact info on the web.

Thanx for the suggestion...I tried it, and nothing came up, well nothing that would lead me to her :( I wonder if you can call the akc, or if there is a page where you can type in the registration number, and the info would come up....with my luck, she isn't breeding anymore. Thanx again for the help.

Did Maybelle have a Affix? Do you know her Akc/KC name?

Affix is normally the first word of the kennel name.

We just recently lost our Basset too, she was 9 and had a tumor removed, but it had burst before and due to complications from that she didn't make it.

I figure we will be ready by the end of summer for another basset.

My sister is a Lab breeder in VA, and while her Labs are fantastic, we want another Basset.

she checked around and suggested I look at these places
http://www.hydenshounds.com/pastbassetpuppies.html ($600)
http://www.kennyacresbassets.com/pastpuppics.html ($400)
http://sperrysbassets-n-corgis.yolasite.com/ ($400)
http://www.longearedhounds.com/3/miscellaneous2.htm ($500-$600)
http://bcyoung.com/photo_3.html (too expensive but really cute)

And a breeder I though looked pretty good, but I don't really know, is

Wow, thanks for the info.

My sister looked at the website and said it looked ok, but there were a few things that concerned her, especially that there were no guarantees against genetic problems after you get the dog home, I guess she was right.

Did you go to the website after reading the letter about Otis? On the Site for Roys bassets, the dame Roxy11 is up for sale for $400....I'm thinking it would be good to avoid this one, if it were me.

What's the breeder's name? If you don't have that, what's the name of the sire and dam listed on the AKC papers? Us breeders know, or know of, most other breeders who have been doing this for a while. Maybe I've heard of the breeder or the hounds.

May's Sire is Kathleens Speckled Stevie, and the Dame was Kathleen's Gabbie Abby. 12 years ago she was in Michigan, but I don't know with the economy as bad as it is in MI, she may have moved...I want to say she was from Big Rapids or Reed City...not sure, it has been so long. I do have her name, but I don't think it would be proper to post it with out her permission...not that I would bad mouth her in the least, she gave me one of the best dogs in the world, and I would love to have another one.

I'm assuming that the breeder's name is Kathleen..............and there's a Kathleen Bova, located in Highland MI, who breeds bassets, or at least use to.

And it's not insulting to post a breeder's name, along with tons of compliments. We consider that free advertisement!

Yes her name is Kathleen Langworthy. And I have many praises for her ablily to breed a fine basset. She had mainly red and whites in the litter MayBelle came from, but May was a tri. I appreciate all the help I'm getting from you guys, maybe I will be able to find her...and hopefully she's still breeding pups.

Hope this info is current and is of some help. Good luck! And please keep us updated! :D

Oh, and let me know when you have this info written down, and I'll delete it from this post. It's OK to mention a breeder, but if she's not breeding anymore, she may not want her personal contact info posted.

Thank you sooooo very much. :D
I will try to contact her soon, and I have written down the info, so you can erase it from the site. Once again, I do appreciate the help, and cross your fingers, she is still breeding, and has a litter soon.
Thanx again :)
