my basset id now 18 months old and about to go into her 3rd season. my vet has advised me to breed her now. i heard from others to wait until shes 2. what are your thoughts ??

18 months is in the safe area, but it depends on the dog. Is her body mature enough to carry a litter? My American Bassets aren't fully grown until around 2.5 years. You have to look at her and think to yourself "if she was pregnant with 10 puppies or more, could she carry them without harming herself?" When I say "harm," I mean putting straing on her back, legs, etc. from carrying such a large load.
