Well sort of red in the sun (or a bright flash). She is all brown. Rescued last year in Tennessee. Very sad story. But she is much happier now with us.

Here is the rest of the story on Ruby.

Warning - Sadness ahead. But she is fine now. :)

She was found by a major road with a litter of puppies. She and the puppies all had heartworms. She survived, the puppies did not. Almost all of her front teeth were ground down to the gumline and had to be pulled due to the exposed nerves. We suspect she was tied up or something that made her chew on something hard. From the amount of the tooth loss, she had to have been doing it for many weeks. She was afraid of everything for a long time. She is in a happy home now and is doing fine without the front teeth. She has her fangs and all the other teeth are fine.

Wow! She's beautiful! I've never seen a solid colored basset before!.....well, not one of her quality. I've seen basset breeders selling high dollar solid red or brown bassets, but they look more dachshund than basset. (clearly mixed a generation or 2 back :x ) She's sooooo pretty! :D Congrats on adding her to your family!
