My Basset is called Maggie She is just 8-months old Her skin is rather saggy Her demeanour quite bold She bounces like a jump-jet To six foot in the air She has replaced my carpet With layers of thick hair I'm told they are quite placid I'm told they cannot jump I'm also told they're flaccid And prone to get quite plump Forget it, not with Maggie She surely breaks the mould She darts, all thin and craggy My trousers to take hold And tears them from my body Jumps six feet in the air Flies with them, round the garden I pull out all my hair Her systems of food detection Are so advanced in sense That they've achieved selection By Ministry of Defence She won't stop stealing cat food She won't do as she's asked But I can't help but love her Because she looks so daft
