Fred has always had a long narrow snout but every puppy pic I see has a short rounded snot. I know she's a basset hound i'm not questioning that, but i'm just curious if some happen to just have natural long narrow faces like hers. I do have some pics of her posted and i'm going to get a recent pic up of her too, just because she's adorable.

Long is normal, they start short and get long,, Fred does look a little less muscled then most bassets I've been around.

She looks like she's pretty petite and less muscular. I'm sure she'll fill out more when she matures, muscle-wise. I had a petite male, he sort of popped when he was about 2 1/2 years old... he passed away when he was 3, I'm sure when he was about 4 he would have looked like his sire (his sire was built like a freight train).

Can you get a side shot of her head? It almost looks like she has a snipey muzzle.

I've known a few Bassets who have very narrow, snipey muzzles, and I've met Bassets who have very square muzzles. There are a lot of variations you can get with selective breeding and different bloodlines. I'm guessing your girl is just pet bred, so her breeder probably wasn't breeding with the breed standard in mind.
