Has anyone ever tried to run squirrels with there basset? I have a lot more squirrel habitat in my driving comfort zone then rabbit? Just wondering thanks for any replie

If you interested in squirrel hunting, you'll be better off with a breed that "TREES" such as a Cur or Feist.

He will run rabbits but he do get a little squirrlie in the back yard.

Fooling with squirrels in the backyard is one thing, running them in the woods hunting squirrels is another.

They are not a "treeing" breed. Squirrel and coon hunting is better with scent hounds that also "tree".

My Bassets will go crazy at the coons, squirrels, yotes, bobcats, foxes, and etc... around the house which is not the same as hunting in the open. When they are turned loose to go hunting, they are hunting wabbits.
